The Cricket Imaging Story
The roots of the Cricket Imaging Company reach back to 1987 when Barry Ganoe graduated from the University of Akron with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree. Later that same year Mr. Ganoe also graduated from the Connecticut School of Broadcasting with a diploma in Radio and Television broadcasting. Mr. Ganoe always had a strong interest in graphic design (drawing), communications, photography, computers, and the fine arts that originated back into his early childhood.
Coupled with this strong educational background plus extensive experience in retail management and marketing, Mr. Ganoe along with then colleagues Sandra Holata, Jamie Newhall, Jim Van Pelt, Charlie Shields, Frank Ganoe, Sara Ganoe and Elizabeth Tingley founded and opened Cricket Photo and Imaging, Inc. on October 4, 1995.
Cricket Photo and Imaging served the Akron, Cuyahoga Falls and Tallmadge areas of Northeastern Ohio for almost seven years until July 12, 2002 when a decision was reached to close the business after a widespread sales slump hit the entire photofinishing industry. Demand for the "wet-process" of film developing began to wane dramatically in the early part of this decade. Also economic challenges resulting from the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks lead to the decision to exit the retail photofinishing business. This era concluded the first chapter of the Cricket Photo story, however the story never completely ended.
Five years later the second chapter of the Cricket Photo story began when friends and colleagues of Mr. Ganoe started seeking out his graphic design knowledge, therefore prompting the re-creation of the Cricket Imaging Company. Today Cricket Imaging offers our clients professional, creative and unique graphic arts services at an affordable price, especially in these challenging economic times.
Despite the current economic downturn, Cricket Imaging Company is not only stable but actually experiencing sustained growth. The new Cricket Imaging Company is not a retail business, therefore able to pass considerable cost savings onto our valued customers.
